Youth Advisory Board Establishment and Mission Statement

Establishment

· The Youth Advisory Board was established in November, 2007 as a community youth board to create, review, recommend and implement strategies and projects to engage the youth within the community based upon the following mission statement:

Our Mission

· “The mission of the Youth Advisory Board is to represent the youth of Apopka by acting as a voice for current youth concerns and to advise the City of Apopka on all future issues that impact our youth. The Youth Advisory Board will also initiate projects that will engage the youth in our community by taking an active role in civic life and public decision making processes.”

Why a Youth Advisory Board?

· The Apopka Youth Advisory Board was established to give the Apopka youth a voice in our community.

As a board, it communicates with the youth and addresses what they see as important youth related issues in our community.
It is important for the youth to have representatives that will not only articulate their concerns to our leaders but initiate projects that will further engage them in our community.
